You Made Me Feel Like I Wasn't Alone "When I Left Home"

Coming full circle

Song 11: I Left Home

You made it to end my friend. We've finally got to the finish line of our initial journey, only to realize that we have come full circle.

By the time we got to the writing the final song for the album, we had really come a long way. Not only had we not quit, but we also started seeing some great success. Just Enough Whiskey was a clear hit, we got three songs over a million streams, and most importantly we had grown as individuals. It made us realize something: The only reason we were able to complete this journey is because of our awesome upbringing back home. Our loved ones, city, and and experiences up until that point equipped us, and we were grateful. It's funny... We started out so bitter when we left, but coming to the last song, well it lead us right back home. Oh the irony...

"You're the reason I can walk and I can stand, you're the reason I became a better man"

- I Left Home

Meaning Behind the Song

"I Left Home" is about having an appreciation for where you came from. It's having appreciation not only for those who raised you, but also the place, the experiences, and the mistakes. You acknowledge that without this, you would not have the strength to set out on your own and face life's challenges. This song was written to show that gratitude. The song also acknowledges that even though you are stopping to recognize the past, you cannot stay there. It's time to keep moving, and start the next part of your journey 💙

Parallel Lines

Lyrics:

Maybe
I've been caught up in my feelings lately
Thinking about how the time has changed me
Being alone

And thunder
It came crashing down to pull me under
Causing me to doubt the ways I wonder
But this much I know

I'm not far from home

You taught me how to walk and how to stand
You taught me how to be a better man
You made me feel like I wasn't alone
When I left home
When I left home

This journey
Hiding from you all the ways it hurt me
I don't want for you to have to worry
I'm fine alone

I'm stronger
I think that I can wait a little longer
I'll write about it in another song for
The world to know

These words from long ago
They keep telling me
Don't you let this go

You taught me how to walk and how to stand
You taught me how to be a better man
You made me feel like I wasn't alone
When I left home

And lately you've been on my weary mind
I used to run away but now it's fine
I hope you never had to feel alone
When I left home
When I left home

Maybe we could sit just for a while
Maybe we could stop and share a smile
Soon I'll have to get back on the road, but you should know

You're the reason I can walk and I can stand
You're the reason I became a better man
I never should've let you feel alone when I left home

You're always gonna be right on my mind
I used to run away but healed with time
I hope you weren't afraid to love alone
When I left home

I hope you found someone to call your own
When I left home
When I left home
